A contractor will be in Plainfield Thursday jetting the sewer lines in the southern portion of town. The cleaning process uses high-pressure water jetting equipment that may induce pressure changes in the sewer. Homes south of Division Street and east of Railroad Street will be affected. Those in that area are encouraged to keep toilet seat lids down, cover basement drains to prevent backsplash, make sure drain traps have water to prevent odors from entering the basement, and loosen caps or plugs on any exterior service cleanouts.
