The Greater Waverly Kiwanis Club and Friends of Kiwanis have committed $55,000 toward new scoreboards at the Cedar River Ball Diamonds. Waverly Youth Baseball and Waverly Youth Softball are contributing an additional $10,000, bringing the total community investment to $65,000.
The funds will be used to purchase and install scoreboards on seven fields at the Cedar River Ball Diamonds. The complex is managed by the City of Waverly Parks and Recreation Department and serves youth baseball and softball players, families, coaches, and spectators from throughout the Waverly community.
Community Representatives
Those representing the participating organizations include Jordan Alborn, Waverly Youth Baseball board representative; Heather Zajicek, Waverly Youth Softball board representative; Waverly-Shell Rock Head Baseball Coach Jerod Pirkl, who served as the club’s guest speaker; City of Waverly Park and Recreation Director, Garret Riordan and Kiwanis youth softball and baseball representative Chuck Brittain.
Greater Waverly Kiwanis Club leaders and board members recognized in connection with the project include Past President Adam Hoffman; President David Litterer; Treasurer Garrett Akins; Secretary Brian MacLearn; and board members Ron Flory, Gary Burke, Ron Reusche, Elmon Tatroe, and Dave Walston, along with the club’s full membership.
Working together, the organizations are investing in improvements that will benefit current and future generations of area athletes and strengthen Waverly’s youth baseball and softball programs.
