Lawsuit Against Coach’s Wife Dismissed

A lawsuit filed against the wife of UNI Wrestling Coach Doug Schwab has been dismissed, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Nima Gharavi runs a YouTube channel dedicated to youth wrestling. He sued Allyson Schwab after she Tweeted about his content telling parents to watch out for their children’s matches to become someone’s YouTube content. She never specifically mentioned Gharavi or his YouTube channel, Midwest Wrestle but she did reference a video of a youth girls match that had 2.6million views, which can be found on the Midwest Wrestle page. Some of Gharavi’s youth wrestling videos have been uploaded to internet pages that contain pornographic material, he says by other people. Gharavi argued that after Schwab made her Tweet, several athletic organizations then canceled or declined to renew their contracts with Gharavi, a third party allegedly published Gharavi’s address on social media alongside false allegations, and that he was the target of threats and an attempted home break-in. The judge dismissed the case, saying that it is not clear that Schwab was specifically referring to Gharavi and the comments were statements of opinion, rather than factual assertions.
