Two Waverly residents were injured in a crash in Clayton County on Saturday morning. 65 year old Dana Dorman was traveling eastbound on Highway 18 near the intersection with Highway 52 when a Subaru Outback driven by 77 year old David Burggren of Dubuque pulled out in front of Dorman. Dorman struck the Outback broadside and the two vehicles then careened into a semi driven by 31 year old Kyle Merkes of Worthington. Burggren was taken to a hospital by ambulance while his passenger, 72 year old Jean Mormann, of Asbury, had to be airlifted to the hospital. Dorman and her passenger, 54 year old Jolynn Dorman, also of Waverly, were both taken to the hospital by ambulance. The Iowa State Patrol says that Mormann and the Dormans’ lives were all saved by their seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
