A driver was found dead in a car hours after they crashed in Waterloo Wednesday. A 55 year old driver from Des Moines was travelling eastbound on Independence Avenue when they left the roadway, went through a fence, hit a tree, and then came to rest next to another tree early Wednesday morning. The crash was not discovered until several hours later, by which point the driver had died. The driver’s name is being withheld at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
