The boyfriend of the woman found shot to death on Lunar Lane in Waterloo on October 17th has been detained in Minnesota, although not for the shooting, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 27 year old TaMia Sisk was found inside a duplex at 660 Lunar Lane with a gunshot wound to her chest. She was rushed to the hospital but pronounced dead there. The next day a probation warrant was issued for Sisk’s boyfriend, 26 year old Jayontae Gates, for a failed drug test. On Friday, the same day as Sisk’s funeral, Gates was taken into custody in Minneapolis. He is being held in the Hennepin County Jail. The couple have a baby together and have both been arrested for domestic abuse against one another. Gates was on probation for breaking into Sisk’s home and punching a man who was sleeping there, breaking the man’s jaw on March 3rd of 2025. On another occasion Sisk was arrested for hitting Gates with a hockey stick when she found him with another woman. She appeared in court to plead not guilty to charges from that incident the day before she was killed. Gates has not been charged with Sisk’s death.
