After a deadly weekend on Eastern Iowa roads, Iowa State troopers are reminding drivers to be safe when it comes to getting behind the wheel.
Losing control of the vehicle was a factor in all four fatal crashes involving cars, semis and motorcycles.
The Benton County sheriff’s office says Lenny Geiger of rural Vinton was going northwest on 55th Street Trail on a 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Geiger went onto the shoulder and lost control of the motorcycle, landing in a ditch. The motorcycle rolled on top of Geiger, killing him.
Authorities say they’re working to learn more information about a person who was hit by a semi Saturday night near Highway 380 and Highway 20 just south of Waterloo. A witnesses told KWWL he called 911 at 7:47 p.m. for a person in the road, and it looked like a driver may have hit someone in that area. According to authorities, they received a call about a man in flannel walking down the road, and moments later, someone else called and said the person had been hit.
