The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 63 and 250th Street near Denver Wednesday morning. 57-year-old Russell Schmitz of Wellsburg was traveling northbound on 63 in a semi when 61-year-old Kay Michel of Waterloo was attempting to cross 63 westbound. Michel’s vehicle was struck on the drivers side by the semi. Michel was transported to Allen Hospital with serious injuries and was later flown to the Iowa City Hospital. Schmitz was uninjured.
