Three businesses in Waverly have received an early Christmas gift from the Design and Beautification Committee of the Waverly Chamber of Commerce. Legacy Photography, the East Bremer Diner and The Larrabee Center are all recipients of Façade Improvement Grants, money given by the city to improve their business’ appearance. The purpose of the grant is to encourage property and business owners to update their storefronts, and assist them in their restoration efforts. This year the Design and Beautification Committee was able to offer more financial assistance as compared to previous years. According to Chair of the Committee, Steve Egli, the Chamber’s board of directors doubled this year’s budget from that of last year’s to support downtown businesses affected by the road reconstruction project.
