Sears in Waterloo Closing

The Sears department store at Crossroads in Waterloo is shutting its doors after 70 years of doing business as part of a larger nationwide closing of dozens of similar stores. The Waterloo store is scheduled to close in early April, according to its parent company Sears Holding Company. Sears Holding announced yesterday it would close 39 Sears stores and 64 Kmart stores nationwide by late March and early April.

The Waterloo Sears predated Crossroads Mall by at least 20 years, having been located in downtown Waterloo as the Sears, Roebuck and Company in the 1940s.
