This month is Adopt-a-Cat Month, bringing awareness to the many issues that pet shelters and animal humane societies suffer.
According to Abby Cresap, the Adoption Supervisor at the Cedar Bend Humane Society, adoption fees may seem expensive, but are actually used to buy more than just the pet itself:
Cresap says the humane society often takes a net loss from the normal adoption prices. Despite this and as part of the observance, cat adoptions at the Cedar Bend Humane Society are all set to $10, even for kittens throughout the month of June.
