Alleged Hunter Murderer Arrested

An arrest has been made in the killing of a hunter in Appanoose County. The body of 31-year-old Curtis Ross of Cedar Falls was found November 25th in the public hunting land around Lake Rathbun near Sandy Branch. Ross’s autopsy revealed that he died of multiple stab and gunshot wounds. 27-year-old Landon Davis of Promise City has now been charged with 1st degree murder for Ross’ death. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says evidence against Davis includes ammunition and multiple spent rifle casings around where Ross’s body was found that had Davis’ fingerprints on them. Law enforcement searched Davis’ home and found a rifle hidden under farm equipment with blood and Davis’ fingerprints on it. Officers also found a vehicle belonging to Davis hidden about a mile north of his home. The DCI says several areas inside the vehicle tested positive for blood. The investigation into the case still continues.
