The latest in a string of threats made against schools in Iowa was at Oelwein High School. Superintendent Josh Ehn sent out a press release Thursday night saying that they had received an isolated and nondescript threat of violence against the school. Now, while many of the threats to schools forced closures this one did not as it was determined there was no immediate danger. The source of the threat was identified although that has not been released. Ehn says those who participate in these threats will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and punished under their code of conduct.
There have now been at least 15 school threats in the state since the shootings in Florida. Some of the districts that have been affected are West Branch, Dubuque, Anamosa, and Riceville in addition Oelwein and others. Most of the cancellations have been made out of an abundance of caution as none of the threats have been credible.
