The new arena football team in based in Waterloo has yet to play a single game but now has new owners and a new name, according to KWWL. Jeff Holmes and Julia Stone are the new owners of the team. They own two recycling companies. They made the decision to change the name from the Waterloo Woo to the Iowa Woo. Holmes says it will make the team more inclusive and will expand their reach even beyond the Cedar Valley to the entire state. The announcement was made at a HyVee Thursday. The Woo will play their games inside the Hippodrome, beginning next summer. They are one of four teams in the brand new league called the Arena League. The other teams will be the Ozarks Lunkers, Duluth Harbor Monsters, and the Kansas City Goats. Hall of Famer Tim Brown is the League Chairman and Commissioner of the league.
