Arrest for Lying to Purchase Firearm

A Waterloo man has been arrested for lying on the paperwork used to purchase firearms, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 29 year old Cody Hunt bought seven guns last year in which he indicated he was buying the guns for himself, however, he was allegedly purchasing them for others. He bought three 9mm pistols and a .22 caliber handgun from one store during four trips between March and June of 2020. He then bought a .380 caliber handgun, a .410 shotgun, and a .22 caliber revolver in two other trips. He has been charged with six counts of Making False Statements When Purchasing a Firearm. He has pleaded not guilty and has been released pending trial, which is tentatively scheduled for October.
