Arrests After Shootout & Standoff

Two people have been arrested in connection with a shootout and subsequent standoff in Waterloo earlier this week, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. On Wednesday at around 11:45 a.m. 20 year old Demaurion Ambrose allegedly drove through the intersection of Clough Street and Summit Avenue before stopping the vehicle. His passenger then got out of the car, ran back to the intersection, and began firing a gun toward a 17 year old, who was allegedly returning fire. The alleged gunman then returned to vehicle and Ambrose drove off. Police were told that the 17 year old fled to 334 Clough Street. Police surrounded the home and brought in their armored Bearcat vehicle. Over the course of hours six residents, including the 17 year old came out of the home. At the same time the Violent Crime Apprehension Team located Ambrose’s vehicle and took him into custody. Ambrose has been charged with Assault While Displaying a Weapon, Going Armed, and Reckless Use of a Firearm. The 17 year old has been charged in juvenile court with Reckless Use of a Firearm, Carrying Weapons, Assault With a Weapon and Interference. The other gunman apparently remains at large.
