Bars Close in 6 Counties

Governor Kim Reynolds announced Thursday that bars in six counties will be forced to close until September 20th. Reynolds cited a significant uptick in COVID-19 cases in people between the ages of 19 and 24 as a reason for the closures. The counties affected are Linn, Johnson, Black Hawk, Dallas, Polk, and Story. Those counties contain major like Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls, and Waterloo as well as all three public universities. Restaurants in those counties that sell alcohol can remain open but must stop selling alcohol at 10:00 p.m.
