A bicyclist was severely injured after allegedly disobeying a traffic signal in Waterloo Tuesday, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Waterloo Police were called to the intersection of West Washington and West Sixth Streets just before 1:00 p.m. Tuesday. Their report says that Ruthie Frizell began to cross West Sixth Street in her Chevrolet Tahoe when her light turned green. In this process she struck Esed Abdagic, who had biked into the intersection. Abdagic was taken to MercyOne Hospital where he was sedated and intubated and diagnosed with a brain bleed. Police reviewed traffic cameras and determined that Abdagic crossed the intersection while the “don’t walk” signal was on, thus putting him at fault. Frizell was not charged in the case.
