A biker is recovering after colliding with two other motorcycles during an annual ride to commemorate Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins, the two cousins murdered five years ago. Saturday one biker slammed on the brakes and flipped over the handle bars. The crash affected three of the 300 bikers. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says they took the victims to the Oelwein hospital and one was later flown to Iowa City. Organizers say they’re passionate about safety during the annual Memorial Ride and Drive and they say this is the first time something like this happened and hopefully it will be the last.
Organizers say they plan to re-evaluate their safety plan to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again. Authorities aren’t releasing the biker’s names at this time.
