The Black Hawk County Jail statistics have been released, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Despite an increase in break-ins, the number of people within the jail has gone down compared to last year. There were 6,700 bookings in 2023. That dropped to just over 6,000 last year. The average daily population went from 250 in 2023 to 227 last year. Sheriff’s deputies responded to 88 crimes of homicide, robbery, rape, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny or auto theft. That was up from 74 in 2023
