A remodeling project of the historic Black’s Building in Waterloo will close a portion of road until the Spring, according to KWWL. Beginning tomorrow the 500 block of Sycamore Street will be closed. This is the section between East Park Avenue and East 4th Street. The Black’s Building, a regionally famous landmark in downtown Waterloo, is being turned into a Hyatt Place hotel with 21 apartments and commercial space. That is part of a $57 million redevelopment project. The road is expected to reopen in the Spring but the Black’s Building project is not expected to be finished until the middle of 2028.
