Blizzard Causes Pileups

Blizzard conditions wreaked havoc on the roadways Thursday with multiple pileups across the state. One such pileup took place in Grundy County in the westbound lanes of Highway 20. 40 vehicles were involved in the crash with five semis and three cars being totaled. A tanker truck leaked sulfuric acid onto the roadway. The Grundy Register is reporting that one person has now died from injuries suffered in the crash. Highway 20 was closed for a time due to the crash. Crashes shut down travel on several other roads across the state Thursday including I-380, Highway 30, and Highway 151. Travel is still precarious in many areas of the state, including in Black Hawk County where the Sheriff has advised people stay home and off the roadways.
