A shooting in Cedar Falls was apparently a botched drug deal after the buyer tried to use counterfeit money, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The shooting happened just before midnight on Tuesday. Two cars met in the area of West 15th and Franklin Streets. The buyer got into the seller’s vehicle and allegedly tried to pass two fake $100 bills. When the seller realized this, the buyer fled the car, got into his own and sped away. The teen in the seller’s passenger seat fired his weapon at the buyer’s vehicle hitting it three times. Investigators found an iPhone at the scene. 17 year old Shawntelly Johnson later showed up to the police station to claim the phone he dropped at the scene. He was arrested and charged with Intimidation with a Weapon and Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute While Armed. He is already awaiting trial after marijuana, scales, and three guns were found in his home in December.
