On October 13, 2020 at approx. 3:16 pm, Bremer County Deputies responded to an accident on Hwy 218 south bound near mile marker 198 of a vehicle rollover. The vehicle that rolled was a Silver 2000 Honda CRV. When deputies arrived the driver was not at the scene. Witness at the scene told deputies that the driver and passenger were picked up by another vehicle and continued south on Hwy 218. With the assistants of the Iowa State Patrol, the driver and passenger were later located in Waterloo. The driver of the Honda CRV, was Victor Matute, 49, of Waterloo. Mr. Matute had driven onto the shoulder and lost control and went into the median. When he entered the median the vehicle rolled once and then came to rest on its wheels. Mr. Matute and his passenger were not injured once they were located. Mr. Matute was cited for failure to maintain control and for no drivers license.
