The Bremer County Community Foundation has announced that they have awarded more the $214,000 in grants to 30 county projects. Among the grants awarded was $5,000 to the Waverly Shell Rock elementaries for their Go-Hawk Pride Sculptures, $5,000 to All in Mentoring for general operating support, the Senior Citizens Group of Waverly received $10,000 to remodel the lower level of their building, Families Helping Families of Iowa got $5,000 to help support foster care in Bremer County, Friends of the Family was awarded $5,000 to help end homelessness in Bremer County, the Northeast Iowa Food Bank got $10,000 to help feed communities, and the Waverly Shell Rock Area United Way was given $5,000 for the Bremer County Crisis Housing Assistance. The Frederika, Plainfield, Readlyn and Tripoli fire departments all received $10,000 for different gear while the Waverly Fire Department was awarded $9,000.
