U.S. News and World Report has named Bremer County one of the healthiest communities in the country. Bremer County came in at number nine on the list and is one of three Iowa counties in the top 10. The communities were judged on a scale of 0-100 in ten categories: population health, equity, education, economy, housing, food and nutrition, environment, public safety, community vitality, and infrastructure. Bremer County’s highest mark came in infrastructure, which received an 87. Four other categories were rated an 80 or better: equity, housing, food and nutrition, and community vitality. The lowest mark was in environment, which was just a 55. The other Iowa counties were Dallas County in 6th and Sioux County in 4th. The healthiest community was Falls Church city, Virginia.
