A burn ban will be in effect for Bremer County beginning Thursday and lasting until dry conditions subside. During a burn ban a supervised, controlled burn for which a permit has been issued can still take place. The use of outdoor fireplaces, grills, properly supervised landfills, the burning of trash in incinerators or trash burners made of metal, concrete, masonry, or heavy one inch wire mesh, with no openings greater than one square inch are still also permitted. Butler, Fayette, and Buchanan Counties are also under a burn ban.
