Burning Guidelines in Waverly

The City of Waverly is reminding its citizens that the burning of yard waste is only allowed on parcels of land greater than a half acre. Even in those cases a burn permit is required prior to burning. Permit applications can be found online at waverlyia.com/burnpermits. Permitted burning may only take place from 9:00 a.m. to sundown. Wet material should not be burned and burning should not be done on windy days. The City encourages the disposal of leaves, brush, etc at the Yard Waste Site for composting and mulching. Recreational fires by any resident using clean, dry wood is allowed without a permit. Fire rings cannot be greater than 4 feet in diameter. There are no time restrictions for recreational fires.
