Four Cedar Falls firefighters received an award Wednesday for saving a woman and her two children from a burning mobile home in February. Fire Captain Derek Brown and firefighters Shane Farmer, Todd Taylor and Troy Purdy received the Sullivan Brothers Award of Valor at the State Capitol building in Des Moines. The award honors peace officers and firefighters who perform heroic acts while on duty. The four firefighters crawled through a burning doorway to save a family of three in February. Ashley Calfee and her children, who were three and five at the time, were inside.
