Cedar Falls police have released the results of their January 9th tobacco checks of local businesses that sell tobacco products. According to police, 30 of the 34 businesses checked were in compliance. Three of the offending businesses were in Cedar Falls and one was in Waterloo. The fine for being cited for providing tobacco to a minor is $100 and includes a criminal surcharge of $35 and $60 in court costs, totaling $195 in fines.
