Thursday at 1:42 PM, The Black Hawk County Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a camper fire that had spread to the grass in the 2400 Block of Central Avenue in Cedar Falls. First arriving units found a camper next to 2406 Central Avenue fully engulfed in fire. The fire had also spread to a large grass area behind a home to the north. The camper fire was quickly extinguished, and other crew members extinguished the grass fire, protecting a shed and homes in the area. Fire crews are investigating the possibility that the fire was caused by improperly disposed of smoking material.
