Capture After Over a Year on the Lam

A Waterloo man serving time for burglary and weapons charges when he failed to return to a work release facility over a year ago has finally be captured, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 41 year old Steven Peterson left the facility in April of last year to attend an orientation at a new job in Cedar Falls but never arrived at the job. He was located on Wednesday on Fletcher Avenue and arrested for voluntary absence and a parole violation. Peterson’s original charges resulted from him breaking into a home and stealing jewelry. He was found with a 9mm Hi-Point pistol in his possession during the investigation. He was barred from having a gun after serving time for voluntary manslaughter for stabbing an 83 year old man to death in 1997. He was released in 2014 at the completion of that sentence.
