An Oelwein man has been charged after he allegedly crashed his car into a bridge near Randalia on Friday. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was called to a bridge along O Avenue just before 9:30 Friday morning. They found a 2009 Mercury Sable hanging over the bridge embankment. They say that 68 year old Steve Euans was behind the wheel of the car when he crossed over the opposite lane of traffic and struck the bridge. Euans was located at MercyOne Hospital in Oelwein. He had been taken there by private vehicle after the crash. He has been charged with Failure to Maintain Control, No Insurance, and Operation Without Registration. The bridge sustained approximately $15,000 in damage and the vehicle is considered a total loss.
