Officials in Waterloo failed to locate a vehicle that went into the Cedar River this winter in an apparent suicide attempt, but they recovered three other vehicles, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Crews were searching for a vehicle that had floated downstream from the boat house after a woman was saved this winter. Those efforts proved fruitless, however, a Chevy S-10 that likely had been in the river since 1998 was pulled out of the muddy river. A 1980s or 90s era Ford Thunderbird and a 1980’s Oldsmobile 88 Royale were also pulled from the river. The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Transportation are working to determine the history of the recovered vehicles.
