Clarksville Police pulled a car from the Shell Rock River Sunday afternoon. 45 year old Adam Averhoff of Clarksville was travelling north on Highway 188 when he lost control of the car at around 2:00 a.m. and went off the highway just north of 195th Street and came to rest in the river. Averhoff, who was the only occupant, was able to make it out with just minor injuries. He was transported to Allen Hospital for an evaluation. The Iowa State Patrol says his life was saved by his seatbelt. Authorities waited until Sunday afternoon to pull the car out of the river for safety reasons.
