Cause of Death Determined

A maintenance worker at the University of Northern Iowa was killed last month by a cap failure on a steam pipe according to a report obtained by the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier from HBK Engineering. HBK is the company that UNI hired to investigate the death of 61 year old Kevin Bley, who died in a steam tunnel in a dining hall on September 10th. The report says a steam release from a two inch pipe that had a sudden catastrophic failure was ultimately what caused Bley’s death.
