The CEO of Waverly Utilities has announced his retirement. Darrel Wenzel has served in that role since February of 2014. During that time he oversaw the establishment of a state of the art fiber network that provides highly reliable, high speed internet and the transition from Waverly Light and Power to Waverly Utilities when the utility added the telecommunication services of internet, cable and phone. Wenzel also served as a board member for the Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska, which is where Waverly gets its power. Wenzel’s final day will be August 3rd. The Waverly Utilities board will determine how to fill their leadership role in the coming months.
