CF Police Chief Finalists

Two finalists have been identified for the open Cedar Falls Police Chief position. The hiring process, which began in June, netted seven applicants. One withdrew from consideration and two did not meet the qualifications for the job. Of the final four, two were selected in a Civil Service review, both are veterans of the department. Captain Mark Howard has a Master of Arts in Public Policy from the University of Northern Iowa. He served in the Iowa National Guard from 1986 to 1999. Howard served on the Waverly Police force from 1997 to 2007. He has been with the Cedar Falls department since then. Captain Jeff Sitzmann has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Iowa State University. He was a Correctional Officer in Woodbury County from 1995 to 1996 before joining the Cedar Falls force. The finalists will complete additional interviews and will take part in a public meet and greet on October 11th and 12th. A decision will be made in late October.
