On 07/24/24 at 12:28 AM the Black Hawk County Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a resident reporting that a vehicle had driven into a private pond near their home at 1005 Lakeshore Drive. The 911 caller reported that they could see movement inside of the car as it was sinking.
Neighbors and responding Public Safety Officers gained access to the submerged vehicle using small watercraft from the private pond. The driver (lone occupant) of the vehicle was a 58 year old male that resides at 925 Lakeshore Drive. The male was rescued from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital by Mercy One paramedics.
Several neighbors acted heroically while assisting in this water rescue. The incident remains under investigation and the vehicle will be removed from the pond during daylight hours. Cedar Falls Public Safety was assisted by the Black Hawk County Dispatch Center, Mercy One Paramedics and the Iowa State Patrol.
