From the Waverly Police Department
On 04/30/2026, the Waverly Police Department reports that Jesse James Redd (20) of Charles City is being charged for two counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – class ‘B’ felonies under code of Iowa section 728.12(1), Sex Abuse in the 2nd Degree – a class ‘B’ felony under code of Iowa section 709.3(1)(B), and Grooming – a class ‘D’ felony under code of Iowa section 709.8A(2). The charges stem from an investigation of sexual abuse involving a minor child that originated on 03/31/26. Redd is being detained in the Bremer County Jail upon his initial appearance before the magistrate. If convicted, each class ‘B’ felony is punishable by imprisonment up to 25 years; the ‘D’ felony is punishable by imprisonment up to 5 years.
