A Charles City man has been sentenced to up to 50 years in prison after being found at fault for the death a three month old baby. 27 year old Shane Morris was taking care of the child on August 3, of 2019 when the child suffered a skull fracture before dying the next day. Morris initially denied knowing anything about the child’s injury, however he later claimed he tripped with the child in his arms and hit the baby’s head on the edge of a kitchen counter before falling on top of the child. Morris was charged with first degree Murder but was found guilty of the reduced charge of Manslaughter.
