A Charles City man has won $10,000 on a scratch ticket, according to KIMT. 47 year old David Kruger was waiting in line at the Kwik Star on Gilbert Street in Charles City when the man in front of him bought a Colossal Crossword, a $30 ticket. Kruger decided he would buy one too. His turned out to be a $10,000 winner. He says the money will go to help pay for a hip replacement surgery in June. $10,000 is not the top prize for the Colossal Crossword, that is $300,000.
