Charles City Woman Asks for Trial to be Moved

A Charles City woman accused of trying to kill her own mother is asking that her trial be moved out of Floyd County. 44 year old Jennifer Bean says that extensive media publicity of her case from Waterloo to Mason City would prevent her from a fair trial. She also claims that she is a well recognized person within the community of Charles City and Floyd County and feels that too would not allow her to receive a fair trial. Floyd County prosecutors say the pre-trial publicity has been limited and non-prejudicial. Bean is accused of injecting her mother with insulin and then preventing her from seeking help. She has been charged with attempted murder. A hearing on moving the trial out of Floyd County is scheduled for January 22.
