A Charles City woman has been sentenced for stealing money and medication from the healthcare provider for whom she worked, according to KIMT. 48 year old Julie Vance pleaded guilty to Obtaining a Prescription Drug While Concealing a Material Fact and fourth degree Theft. Vance was working for Lindstrom Family Practice when she wrote phony prescriptions in order to obtain medications for her own personal use. She also made illegal credit card charges on the business account totaling about $550. Vance was ordered to spend three to five years on supervised probation and must pay a civil penalty of $1,430. Vance received a deferred judgment, meaning this conviction will be removed from her record if she successfully completes her probation.
