Citizens Warned to Stay Out of the Cedar River

Bremer County Emergency Management is asking citizens to stay out of the Cedar River after wastewater was discharged into the river. The City of Nashua alerted the Department of Natural Resources of a leak in a wastewater force main which runs under the Cedar River. The damaged wastewater line has now been shut down. Bremer County Emergency Management is still asking people to stay out of the water downriver of Nashua until at least noon Friday to allow any residual wastewater to pass through. The DNR reports that no dead fish have been observed at this time.
