The City of Cedar Falls has announced that they will provide $3 million to support the University of Northern Iowa’s renovation of the UNI-Dome. The city council approved $1.25 million to be utilized for the project in their fiscal year 2025 budget. The remaining $1.75 million will be paid in fiscal years ’26 and ’27. The university says that the UNI-Dome, which opened in 1976, hosts more than 500,000 people per year, allegedly resulting in an economic impact of more than $17 million. The UNI-Dome renovation project is part of UNI’s Our Tomorrow campaign.
