Recently several residents in the Waterloo Cedar Falls area have claimed on social media that Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, was in the area. Black Hawk County Sheriff Nate Neff has told KWWL that he is not aware of ICE operating locally and that there were many law enforcement officers from across Northeast Iowa in the area on Wednesday for a large training exercise. He also said that unmarked SUVs do not necessarily confirm the presence of ICE. With all of that said, if ICE was in the area they would not inform the sheriff.
