Coach Pleads Guilty to Having Sex With a Player

A former girls soccer coach at Hampton Dumont CAL has pleaded guilty to having a sexual relationship with one of his players, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 29 year old Ismael Torres originally pleaded guilty in August to a reduced charge of Lascivious Acts With a Child and was placed on probation for two years and required to register as a sex offender. However, it was then discovered that he was in the country illegally. A judge ruled that his conviction be removed since his lawyer did not adequately advise him on the risk of being deported if he pleaded guilty. He was scheduled to go to trial this week but he has now pleaded guilty to a charge of Assault Causing Mental Distress. He admitted to having sex with the juvenile girl on several occasions in his car at his residence. Torres is currently in the custody of Immigration Customs Enforcement.
