An eastern Iowa police department is coming together to raise money, after an officer is diagnosed with cancer.
Cedar Falls Reserve Officer Scott Sterrett was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
He’s 48 years old, and an avid runner. He’s already done 23 marathons, including the Boston Marathon.
The department is planning The Officer Needs Assistance 5K for him that starts at Gateway Park in Cedar Falls on Thursday August 17th at 6:30 p.m.
