Confirmed Case in Butler Co

34 new cases of the coronavirus have been announced in Iowa including one in Butler County of a person age 61-80. That brings the total to 179 positive tests. There have been nearly 3,000 negative tests. 31 people remain hospitalized with the virus.

Governor Kim Reynolds has extended business closures in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19. Restaurants and bars will need to remain closed a week longer, until April 7th. Other retailers have been added to the mandatory closure list. They include stores that sell books, shoes, jewelry, luggage, cosmetics, perfume and beauty supply stores. The list also includes florists, furniture and other home furnishing stores. Reynolds also placed a delay or suspension on all non-essential or elective surgeries and procedures. Elective dental procedures have also been suspended. Health care facilities will now engage in enhanced staff health screenings.
